AVDS

Adaptive Audio-Visual Dialect Speech Synthesis
Within the project AVDS text input is transformed to acoustic and visual signals for various Austrian dialects, by means of audio-visual speech synthesis. These signals are then used to let virtual 3D-avatars speak in these dialects. In order to represent the two biggest dialect groups of Austria, the Middle Bavarian and the South Bavarian dialects, one dialect from Upper Austria (Salzkammergut) and one dialect from Tyrol or Styria will be modelled.

Networked Services
The strategic project S-0 develops enabling technology that allows the flexible design, deployment, and execution of future communicating applications in a wide range of communication scenarios.

SELECT

SELECT aims at developing new techniques for detecting emergency situations within road tunnels, by monitoring the radio-frequency channels used by public cellular networks. The gathered information can be exploited to monitor the dialing towards emergency numbers (112, eCall). Moreover, positioning algorithms based on active monitoring of the power transmitted by Mobile Devices will be developed, in order to infer movement patterns of the users within the tunnels.
